Correction to the earlier version of this page
The earlier version suggested reaching legendary targets from common starters after many generations. That conflicts with the site's own rule, and with the game: legendary and breed-true Pals cannot be reached from common starters at all. They must be caught first, then bred with their own species. A breeding tree for those Pals has exactly one step: catch, then same-species. Any guide that chains common Pals into a legendary is describing a pre-1.0 or incorrect table.
What a breeding tree really is
A breeding tree is a chain of generations: each result becomes a parent for the next step. It only works for formula and special Pals. The Anubis chain is a real example, verified in multiple 1.0 sources: Relaxaurus + Sparkit gives Relaxaurus Lux, Relaxaurus Lux + Blazamut gives Jormuntide, Jormuntide + Blazehowl gives Jormuntide Ignis, and Jormuntide Ignis + Relaxaurus Lux gives Anubis. Every step in that chain is a real pair, and every intermediate is itself a useful Pal.
Three hard rules limit every tree: (1) breed-true Pals (Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus, Orserk, Shadowbeak, Grizzbolt, Faleris, Lyleen, Selyne and others with zero mixed pairs in the 1.0 dataset) are dead ends — no chain leads into them; (2) special Pals need their one special pair, not a formula average; (3) a chain is only as short as your collection — the best tree is the one that starts from Pals you already own.
